The Ferrari 458 is, without a doubt, one of the most beautiful cars available on the market. Completing the package, the 458 styling is complemented by what can only be described as a magnificent piece of engineering. The engine, mounted in the middle, produces a substantial 562hp from a ferocious V8. The suspension is F1 inspired, and yields handling characteristics like no other. Changing gears is phenomenally quick, with a seven-speed dual clutch transmission connecting the heart and soul of this machine. And finally, as you would expect from a Ferrari, the noise from the exhaust is enough to make even the harshest of car critics emit tears from their eyes. The pure passion in this machine almost makes it the perfect car. Almost….
For the average person, a car with 562hp is well and truly enough horsepower. However, as we all know, after owning something for a while, no matter how special, the things that used to make us smile with absolute pure joy, now only produce moderate feelings of complacency. This isn’t to say this is a bad thing, as it is only human to feel this way……but sometimes…..we just need that little bit more. Even a Ferrari as special as this one can become the norm after driving it day after day. Of course, it is still a magnificent machine, and you love it dearly, but sometimes, you just need something to spark that feeling you had when you first sat down, grabbed the wheel, and put your foot down.
Something to give that spark is a turbocharger package, which boosts the output horsepower from 562hp to around 700hp! In a car so meticulously built, where every gram was counted for, and any gram too much was thrown out, and increase of horsepower by this amount is truly a big change. Have a look at this video to see what twin-turbos can do to a car of such prestige.
